L’Avenir returns with Requiem, his fourth full-length album for Barcelona’s Cold Beats Records. Requiem finds L’Avenir visiting themes of alienation, postmodernity, and spiritualism while expanding the sonic palette far beyond his minimal synth beginnings. The music of L’Avenir has often been compared to 4AD-era Clan of Xymox or mid-period Depeche Mode. But while echoes of the former can be heard, L’Avenir brings a uniquely fresh perspective unheard in other bands of the genre.
